CLOTHES LINES:A dress grown from Guinness or wine, and a shirt that sends hugs from a loved one? Sounds like science fiction? All will be revealed at an absorbing new exhibition called Techno Threads opening in TCD's Science Gallery, which connects the worlds of fashion and science

. The exhibition is curated by Marie O'Mahony, a well-known textile and technology consultant. Techno Threads promises to be a glimpse into the future of fashion, where biotechnology and nanotechnology combine with traditional craft and haute couture skills. Divided into three sections, it will deal with green issues and concepts such as design for disassembly and the use of tissue culture to produce "living" clothes. The Techno Threads exhibition runs from April 26th to July 25th.
