Angie McMenamin and Viv Horkan have set up Urban Frog, a new Irish company making cycling wear for commuters. The pair, who cycle to work, bemoaned the fact that most cycling gear is geared just to the sport and so they set about designing, manufacturing and selling their own brand offering an alternative to what they call “the Lycra look”.

Their six different tops in high performance, odour resistant, temperature regulating fabrics come in black and ivory as well as red, green, blue and pink, some with reflective edging. Ethically produced in Lithuania, the tank tops, T-shirts and light jackets are made in machine washable merino wool and feature longer cuts at the back, gripper reflective tape around the hemline and flatlock seams. They are priced from €30 to €60 and can be bought online at www.urbanfrog.ie or in Two Wheels in Dublin 4 and City Cycles in Dublin 3 and 7.
