Usher's Quay to bloom again

Part of Usher's Quay in Dublin 8 is to be redeveloped following a decision by An Bord Pleanála to approve a multimillion euro office and residential development.

Developer P Elliott & Company will build 84 apartments and a five-storey over basement office block on the site of the existing Olaf House, an office building and an adjacent former factory.

The new office block will front 35-39 Usher's Quay and will be occupied by the Local Government Management Services Board.

The board provides management services, human resources and industrial relations support to local authorities.

The development will encompass part of Usher Street, involving the demolition of a factory, a disused garage and two derelict houses.

The developer was originally looking to build over 100 apartments but that number was reduced by the planning conditions imposed by An Bord Pleanála.

The immediate area has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years and has been designated a Digital Hub.

P Elliott and Co was founded in 1942 by the late Patrick Elliott, father of chairman Noel Elliott. Noel's sons, Mark and Noel, are managing director of the property division and managing director of the construction division, respectively.

The company is involved in a number of projects in Dublin, including the redevelopment of the Fatima Mansions flat complex in the inner city and the Forbes Quay office and apartment scheme in the south docklands.
