Swords townhouses target first-timers

Competition between the various new developments in Swords is hot at the moment, so prices have to be keen to lure the first-time buyer.

With prices starting at £148,000 (€187,960), there are 65 two and three-bedroom townhouses for sale at Boroimhe in Swords from this weekend. The selling agent is David Rogers.

Situated on the Dublin side of Swords, the 240-house development - the first phase of which was launched in 1999 - will eventually be linked to the main road.

The 800 sq ft two-bed townhouse starts at £148,000 (€187,960), while the three-bed 1,020 sq ft end of terrace townhouse is from £169,000 (€214,630).

Some will be ready for occupation in the new year, while the rest are expected to be completed in the late spring and early summer. The three-bed townhouse has a spacious sittingroom with coving, a feature timber surround fireplace and a large window overlooking the front of the development.

It connects through double panelled timber doors to the diningroom/kitchen. The kitchen has Shaker-style units and a granite-effect worktop and the dining area has sliding patio doors to the back garden. Most of the gardens are around 38 to 40 ft. There is a utility room off the kitchen.

The main bedroom has extensive wardrobe space and a nice-sized en suite with a fully tiled power shower. The second bedroom is a small double with plenty of wardrobe space and the third bedroom is a single.

The two-bed townhouses vary in layout. Most have a sittingroom with a stairwell leading upstairs and a feature fireplace, and a separate kitchen/dining area behind. Some have a wheelchair-accessible toilets downstairs to comply with building regulations, which makes the kitchen/dining area smaller.

The main bedroom is a large double with no en suite while the second is a double bedroom.
