MALAHIDE: €2.2M:A five-bedroom, Victorian semi-detached house in Malahide ihas almost halved in price in three years

A VICTORIAN house in Malahide with a garden big enough to take a marquee is asking €2.2 million through O’Farrell Cleere Auctioneers – down from €4.35 million when it first went on the market three years ago.

The five-bedroom semi-detached house at 2 Windsor Terrace is part of an elegant stretch of houses that leads up hill from the main street and connects with Grove Road. Number 2 is at the village end, a 100-yard walk from The Diamond – the centre of the village – with its shops and cafes.

Dating from 1856, the 279sq m (3,000sq ft) house is set back from the road with off-street parking in front and a large back garden. Inside, it’s in good order throughout and decorated in the florid style of the Victorian era. Rich colours and swagged curtains abound, but the rooms, with their 12ft ceilings, can take a bit of drama.
