Townhouses in Tipperary could be a sweet deal

CO TIPPERARY: €1.7M:A DEVELOPMENT of seven two and three-bedroom townhouses in a restored creamery near Dundrum, Co Tipperary, is for sale for €1.7 million. It is across the road from Dundrum Golf and Leisure Club.

The homes in Woodcock Grove sit on 15 acres of woodland and have been rented since the scheme was built in 2004. Savills Cork office is handling the private treaty sale.

Local man John Browne bought the 19th-century creamery over seven years ago and redeveloped it, restoring the original brickwork.

The creamery was built by the Cleeves toffee family at the turn of the 20th century to provide milk for its confectionery; it was later bought by the Tipperary Co-Op.

Woodcock Grove is a gated development consisting of the terraced townhouses, ranging in size from 70-86sq m (750-924sq ft) and a tennis court. There is space to build a separate family home behind the tennis court. Browne believes the development could be a home with income for someone wanting to retire to county life.Browne is also offering the buyer two life memberships to Dundrum Golf Club, worth €10,000, he says.

Interiors have Goppa fireplaces, designer kitchens, solid wood floors in the livingrooms and fitted wardrobes in the bedrooms.

The townhouses were originally put up for sale in 2004, but later taken off the market after the scheme, which is seven miles from Cashel, failed to sell. All the townhouses are rented at present, yielding an annual income of €45,000.
