At Peats (peats.com) stores, the sale has already started on some items. Anyone looking for a Sony 32-gigabyte MP3 player, black only, can buy it for €129, down from €259.

Telly addicts will like the reduction on the 50-inch plasma screen 3D TV. It was €1,100 and is reduced to €800. It comes with two pairs of 3D glasses.

Peats’ sale officially starts on December 27th at 10.30am.

Arnotts sofa, so good

Arnotts sale starts on St Stephen’s Day at 9am. In furniture, a Monaco two-seat sofa is down from €1,099 to €699. It is available in a range of fabrics. A similar style that is also a sofa bed is reduced from €1,299 to just €899.

There is 50 per cent off Charm brown leather sofas. A three seat in this style is reduced from €1,799 to €899. The two seat was €1,599 and is now €799. Italian mahogany chairs are just €149 each and are available in a range of individual patterns, colour and fabrics.

In kitchenware, a Stellar five piece saucepan set was €449.95 and is now €159.95. A James Martin five-piece knife block was €179.95 and is now €69.95 A 44-piece Rochester cutlery set is down from €309.95 to €84.95. A Denby 16-piece linen boxed set was €279.95 and is now €99.95.

In the electronics department an ex-display Panasonic 64 3D television is reduced from €4,999 to €2,499.

Dining sets to go Harvey go . . .

The Harvey Norman (harveynorman.ie) sale starts on St. Stephens Day at 9am.

The store has excellent value in dining sets. A Venus six-seater comes with a contemporary black glass table measuring 130cm by 80cm, chrome legs and black chairs. It is reduced from €599 to €399.

The Charelle has a beveled round glass top, measuriing 114cm in diameter, and comes with four dining chairs in black, brown, red or cream. It is reduced from €599 to €299.

Several Sealy bed styles are also on sale. The Firm Comfort plain double bed is reduced from €799 to €499. The

Cumbrian Meadow, another plain double bed, is reduced from €1,098 to €649.

If youre in the market for black leather sofas, there are Rosco three-seater styles down from €799 to €499. A two-seater in the same style was €899 and is now €599. You can buy a pair of sofas, a three seat and a two seat, for €999, saving you an extra €99.

The Corona is another two-seat sofa style that comes with a chaise. It is reduced from €799 to €399. These offers are valid until January 15th or until sold.

A white-out at BT sales

The Incredible White Christmas Sale at Bottom Drawer, Brown Thomas, Dublin (01-6056696) Cork and Limerick, starts on Monday, December 26th, and runs for two weeks until January 9th.

Everything white from fluffy white bathrobes to super luxurious white Frette sheets is reduced by 30 per cent or more. A luxurious So Glow king-size white upholstered bed was €1,795 and is now €1,250. Frette 800 thread count pure white hemstitched king duvet covers were €525 and are now €365, while super-luxe Polish king-size white goose down duvets which were €425 each are now €295. White pure down pillows, made in Ireland, were €175 per pair and are now €99.50. There’s 50 per cent off super-soft deep pile 800g towels available in 12 different colours. The bath size was €45 and is now €22.50.

Fancy a frothy coffee?

The sale at Dominic Smith Electrical (dominicsmithelectrical.ie) starts Tuesday, December 27th, at 10am at both their branches – in Gorey, Co. Wexford, at Unit 1 (053-9484444) Knockmullen Retail Park, and at the Village Centre (01-2965511) in Dundrum, Dublin 16.

A Panasonic TX-L42D25 42-inch LED television is reduced to €499 from €999. A Delonghi Perfecta ESAM 5400 coffee maker (below) is down from €699 to €499. This fully-automated device can use beans or ground coffee and has a frothing system. A Kenwood titanium food processor, hailed by the brand as the ultimate kitchen machine, is reduced from €599 to €349.

And for homeowners living in confined spaces and in need of a new washing machine, the Hoover Optima 7 Space Saver is down from €349 to €249. Only 40cm deep, it is ideal for those tight spots in your kitchen or utility room. It also has a 7kg washing capacity.

A vase to treasure

Article, a shop in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre (01-6799268, articledublin.com) is a veritable treasure trove of delicious home and gift buys. In its sale, these Wave vases are reduced from €29 to €19.

Last day of sale on the Horizon

Today is the last day of Irish-made Horizon Furnitures (021-4313313/087-6362088) pre-Christmas clear-out at the former Tax Offices on Sullivans Quay in Cork city.

Bargain Hunter loves the super-smart lacquered solid oak Mary Jane dining chairs (left), reduced from €450 each to €300 per chair. A set of six now costs €1,500.

If you work from home, there is a Bauhaus-inspired desk (above), made of American oiled walnut and lacquered MDF, reduced from €2,100 to €1,500. There are lots of small accessories from mirrors to shelving also reduced.
