Owners of period homes looking for classic shaped sofas, love seats and armchairs should check out the Howard style with its very smart shaped pea-arms at Finline Furniture (057-8626219, finlinefurniture.ie) in Emo, Co Laois.
The Irish-made design (above) is reduced by 30 per cent in a selection of 500 different clearance fabrics. It is seen here in a non-clearance fabric. A deep seat sofa in this style, measuring 213cm long by 106cm wide, is reduced from €1,575 to €995. A love seat, 160cm long, was €1,175 and is now €775. An armchair was €925 and is now €595. Swatches of the clearance fabrics are listed on the website. Many are quite traditional but there are also a couple of rather smart checks, houndstooth and stripes. Delivery nationwide is €100.
