Limerick fair to get high turnout

ORGANISERS OF next weekend’s National Antique and Art Fair in Limerick say that it is “the biggest such event in Ireland by far”. Some 70 dealers will attend and the fair is open to the public from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, November 12th and 13th, at the South Court Hotel, Limerick.

Access for motorists travelling from Dublin is via exit 30 on the M7 motorway.

Thousands of items will be displayed for sale, including antique furniture, Irish contemporary art, jewellery and silver, china and porcelain, coins, banknotes, clocks and books.

Robin O’Donnell, of Hibernian Antique and Fine Art Fairs, said the increase in the number of exhibitors at this year’s Limerick event was “bumping the current trend in the economy”, adding that “prices have never, ever been better than now”.

Dealers in attendance will include 15 members of the Irish Antique Dealers Association, among them veterans such as Adare-based George Stacpoole, whose stock includes Georgian furniture and antique silver, and first-timers such as Bill Canning, of Kilkenny Fine Art, who specialises in Victorian oil paintings.
