The Dalkey Design Company has taken off in a new romantic direction with the arrival of a range of antique French chandeliers, hand-sewn cotton quilts and shimmering organdie curtains. Previously, the shop - which is above Glynis Robins' store on Railway Road in Dalkey, Co Dublin - stocked smaller gift-type items, such as pretty toiletries and candles. But according to Cathy White, who owns the store with Glynis, they have decided to re-stock to focus on interiors. Their new range includes a collection of beautifully decorative chandeliers which they source in France dating from 1930 starting at £800 (€1,016) and rising to £3,000 (€3,809) for a sixteen branch chandelier suitable for a large livingroom. The drops in these delicate lighting fixtures range from coloured glass to crystals. The new stock includes the Damask range of old-fashioned looking cotton quilts in muted delicate colours which range from £295 (€375).
