Ballymun will get its first multiplex cinema if a planning application to Fingal County Council by Genetic Developments is successful.

As well as a six-screen cinema, the developer is looking to build a leisure and residential complex on a three-acre site at the junction of Ballymun Road and Santry Avenue, Dublin 9.

Genetic's directors are Eddie Bennett, Gary Duffy, Joseph Callan and Richard Maguire. The proposal is for five buildings rising to six storeys, which will incorporate a children's activity centre, restaurant, bar, eight retail units, a crèche, and health and fitness centre. The residential element of the three-acre site is to comprise 237 apartments and a double level basement providing 553 car-parking spaces.
