Chef's kitchen is heart of Newcastle home

Restaurateur Conrad Gallagher and his wife Domini are selling the Co Wicklow house that they bought less than a year ago. The newly-built three-bedroom house, which is part of the Hunter's Leap development in Newcastle, is for sale by private treaty through the Ross McParland agency at £285,000.

Located about a mile from the N11 motorway, and half a mile from the beach, the development has 14 houses which sold out in a matter of hours last spring.

Number 12 is an attractive granite-faced dormer style bungalow with around 2,000 sq ft of living space. There are three reception rooms: a 21-ft livingroom, a family room as well as a very large dining area off the kitchen.

The kitchen, as one might expect, is the heart of the house. It's a wonderfully bright room with a white-tiled floor, white marble work-top running almost its full length, and wall-mounted units with sandblasted glass doors. The eating area has patio doors opening on to the garden.

The main bedroom is on the upper floor and has a large walk-in wardrobe as well as an en suite bathroom.

The two remaining bedrooms are on the ground floor. One is a double and the other is a large single. Both rooms share the spacious family bathroom.

The house is protected by a closed-circuit television security system.
