Listen here all you make-doers, mark August 29th into your diaries for a Crafternoon Tea Design Day, to be held in the Cultivate Centre, Essex Street, Temple Bar, in Dublin from 10am to 5pm.

It’s a beginners’ fashion workshop, a skills crash course on how to make your own dresses or other items, for example. The day begins with a workshop on fashion figure drawing and design concepts. From 11am to 1pm there will be instructions on pattern drafting, and then from 1pm-2pm there will be lunch in Smock Alley Café. The afternoon programme, from 2pm-3.30pm, is all about how to do basic alterations, and from 3.30pm-5pm the focus is on upcycling (reinventing existing garments) with the award-winning textile graduate Deirdre Harte. Tickets are €60 each, from tickets@re-dress.ie.
