Seven things to do this week

TODAY The Naas Farmers' Market is a weekly treat whether you want to stock up on handmade sausages, smoked fish, fresh veg, flowers or the other goodies on display. Or maybe you just fancy lunch al fresco. A minute's walk from Naas Main Street, the market takes place from 10am to 3pm every Saturday.

TOMORROW Féile na Tuaithe at Turlough Park, Co Mayo, is the first of what will become an annual celebration of country life in this beautiful setting. There are demonstrations, lectures and activities all day including workshops on traditional games, jewellery making, handcrafts, face painting and live music. MONDAY Artist Trevor Geoghegan's distinctive Irish landscapes from Co Wicklow, the west of Ireland and the continent are on show at the Solomon Gallery in Dublin and form his ninth solo show at the gallery. Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, South William Street, Dublin.

TUESDAY Rufus Wainwright fans are particularly dedicated so expect a good buzz at this gig at Vicar Street in Dublin tonight. Listening to the poetic young man is, according to one admirer, "like being wired into a vibrant Grimm fairytale". Tickets cost €30 and are available from www.vicarstreet.com. He also plays the Waterfront Hall in Belfast tomorrow night.

WEDNESDAY One hundred children were given recyclable cameras to document one day in their lives and the result of this project is an exciting exhibition on display at the Greyfriars Municipal Gallery in Waterford. The exhibition continues for another week before embarking on a national tour.

THURSDAY Poetry Live! are a trio of actors from the Gaiety Theatre who breathe new life into the work of the poets on the Leaving Certificate in an entertaining 45-minute show. Poems on the syllabus, as well as other works by the same authors will stir the imaginations and sensibilities of English students. The poets featured at this show in the Writers' Centre, Parnell Square, Dublin, are Heaney, Kavanagh, Yeats and Boland. Tickets are €5 and must be booked in advance from 01-8721302.

FRIDAY Money for nothing and kicks for free at the Point Depot tonight where ex-Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler will be doing some musical axe-grinding. His latest offering, Shangri La, went down well with the critics, so expect to be impressed by this living rock legend. 8pm.
