THE COMPANY might be called 50% Male Experimental Theatre, but Seekers is a pretty conventional piece of physical theatre. Examining our hectic lifestyles and constant quest for happiness, six performers of mixed-abilities present highly gestural and stylised movement, like miming winding watches or running on the spot to illustrate our time-starved existence.

Video projections hammer home the point with clips of a mother helping her child with her homework late at night or a father forced to take care of a toddler while working on his laptop. Sometimes more ambiguous abstract movement instils some poetry into the proceedings by hinting at the freedom possible by abandoning the rat race and valuing moment-to-moment pleasures. But ultimately these moments never compensate for the work’s predictable structure and execution.
