Let it be said from the outset that we make no great (or, indeed, even less than great) claims for Jedward’s future success as anything in particular. But it’s important to remember that all of us said the same thing about Boyzone when we watched them dancing like goons on The Late Late Show many years ago.

So, you know, all bets are off.

Jedward’s debut tour is the fastest-selling nationwide tour of any Irish pop or rock act, though it remains to be seen what will actually constitute a Jedward show. At the recent X Factor gigs in the O2, John and Edward bounced on stage and performed their known X Factor songs (Rock DJ, Under Pressure, Ghostbusters) with virtually no precision or poise yet with the boundless, senseless gusto of wind-up toys.
