The fathers of electronic music will this week fly down from their rocket ships or undock from their charging outlets (whatever robots get up to these days) and perform once again in Dublin. The German quartet may have just Ralf Hütter left from the original 1970s line-up, but the band can still give fans the synth and drum machine they know and love. Following a run of gigs in South America, the lads are coming to Ireland before continuing to mainland Europe.

They’ll perform first on Wednesday at King John’s Castle in Limerick City before heading up to Dublin for a show on Thursday. So what can we expect from the concert?

When do they play?

The concert is on at Trinity College Dublin on Thursday, June 29th.

What time should I arrive?

Gates open at 7pm and the show is expected to start at 7.30pm. Times are subject to change and updates can be checked for here. Due to increased traffic and security measures, concertgoers are advised to be at the venue in sufficient time.

Who is the support act?

There is no support act at the concert – just a whole lotta Computer Love.

How do I get there?

The concert organisers have instructed fans to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the concert as there will be no parking facilities on site. They have advised ticket holders to plan for at least an extra 1½ hours travel time to and from the venue as traffic delays are inevitable. Stewards will be directing crowds and there is no entry via the Front Square or Nassau Street gates. The entry point is Lincoln Place Gate.

By Dart: The Dart will run services to and from the gig via Pearse Street station. The last train northbound leaves at 12.03am, the last train southbound leaves at 11:38am. For more information see irishrail.ie.

By bus: Dublin Bus run services right up to Trinity College. The bus routes serving Nassau Street, just outside the venue, are: 11, 37, 38, 38A, 38D, 39A and 70.

Are there any tickets left?

Yes. There are still some tickets available at ticketmaster.ie. Buy tickets from accredited sources only.

What’s the story with security?

This concert is strictly over-18s and ID will be required. Allow time for security checks on the way in. Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted and all bags may be searched, this can be time-consuming so consider going bagless for easier entry. There will be no cloakroom or storage facilities. No umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, glasses or cans, among other items, will be allowed into the event.

Can I take photographs at the concert?

Yes, but only with a smartphone or small camera. Professional cameras with a detachable lens and any other recording equipment are banned.

What’s the weather forecast?

Met Éireann is forecasting cloud cover and temperatures of up to 18 degrees on Thursday.
