‘Tis the season of the winter or, indeed, Christmas group exhibition. There are shows all over the country, and many of them, such as Tunde Toth’s Thomastown showcase in Kilkenny, featuring works by 11 artists and craftspeople, are thoughtfully conceived and enterprising. Artists are clearly sensitive that they are dealing with an economically challenged environment, and the shows are often tailored to limited purses.

Take the Graphic Studio's Little Christmas, which follows on from last year's event. Gallery artists and studio members have worked to a size of 20cms x 25cms in editions of 20, their images incorporating the term "-scape". All works are €180.

In a similar vein, Limerick Printmakers are offering works by a fine range of artists for €100 or €200 each. They’re also launching a Friends scheme that offers extraordinary benefits, including a box set of prints, for an annual pledge of €250.
