Just Dancehas been a popular fixture on the Wii ever since, selling more than 15 million copies since 2009. Now, the Wii has some competition, with versions for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation Move. The Kinect already has a couple of dance games to its name, so it was only natural that Just Dance 3would eventually make its way to the platform.

And it doesn’t fare badly. The familiar graphics are there – coloured characters on bright backgrounds. You follow the onscreen graphics movements. It all seems so simple.

I thought I was co-ordinated until I picked up this game. It’s not the first dance game I’ve attempted, and it’s certainly not the first Kinect title to cross my path. So I assumed it would be manageable, on the easy setting at the very least.

At first, it wasn’t. The moves come at you thick and fast and it’s hard to keep up, even with the easier tracks. The motion sensor picks up the movement well, although it’s still possible to cheat a little, especially when in multiplayer. At one point, handwaving earned me a “perfect”, despite the rest of me not following the movement.

In multiplayer this is a little more noticeable. For the first time you can get four-player dance on the Kinect, although you have to be careful not to elbow your partner in an over-enthusiastic moment.

You also get the new “Just Create” mode, which allows you to create your own choreography and challenge your friends. If you feel so inclined, you can share it online too. You never know, you could be the next Wade Robson or Pineapple Dance Studio star in the making. (I’ll indulge my shameful Bananarama habit in private, thanks all the same.)

The track list is varied, ranging from pop and hip-hop to country and disco. There are more than 40 to choose from, with more modern tracks from Katy Perry and Jessie J alongside the 1980s classic from A-ha and Bananarama. So there’s something to keep everyone happy, and more to download.

Just Dance 3is good fun, as long as there's no one to witness your uncoordinated shuffling and you don't break anything in the process.
