Respecting the code of Cannes

We have no news of what’s playing at this year’s Cannes Film Festival

We have no news of what’s playing at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Why mention this non-fact? Well, festival director Thierry Frémaux has been forced to declare that a “leaked” draft of this year’s programme is in fact a work of fiction.

The list, which appeared on the grandly titled Blog du Festival de Cannes, includes few films that have not already been mentioned in every speculative media story concerning this year’s event, such as the latest movies by David Cronenberg and Terrence Malick.

“The selection is in my head,” Frémaux said. “It’s disgusting to play with such a thing. There is a code of conduct for Cannes and it must be respected. Those who don’t respect the code, will never come back to Cannes.” The real list will come our way on April 19th.
