Country house auction with a silver lining

Hot on the heels of Hamilton Osborne King's very successful auction at Gerrardstown House, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, comes another big sale in the Royal county. Ganly Walters will auction the contents of Domanda, a large 1950s house at Hayestown, near Navan, on October 29th. The house changed hands recently for around £700,000 and almost most of its furnishings are to be sold.

A complete catalogue will be available next week and reading from the draft it looks to be a fairly varied sale, with plenty of good 19th century furniture, some Georgian furniture and dozens of lots of antique and modern porcelain, silver plate and silver. Of the 400 or so lots on offer, a pair of Georgian mahogany half-moon side tables is expected to make £1,500£2,000; a walnut, framed bergere suite has a top estimate of £4,500; a handsome William IV rosewood teapoy should fetch £1,500 to £2,000; and a fine George III bow-fronted sideboard is estimated at up to £2,700.
