The makers and publishers of artists’ books, comics and zines operate in a fairly niche corner of the market, but today’s Summer Edition 2010, running at Filmbase in Temple Bar, will give all those talented producers a chance to display their wares to a wider audience.

The organiser, Edition Book Arts, was formed last year by book and comic artists Katie Blackwood, Patrick Lynch and Philip Barrett. This is the second Summer Edition, and it sees more than 30 publishers and zine-makers taking part, from Ireland and the UK. They include RedFoxPress (their Franticham’s Assembling Box is pictured), Coracle Press, Baby Beef Art Press and Turbo Monthly. There’s a huge range of material to see. Perhaps the only thing all the participants have in common is that they’re really passionate about what they do. They’re also really inventive and often very funny. Admission is free and you can buy or just browse to your heart’s content.

Summer Edition 2010, Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin, today, 11am-5pm. See editionbookarts.com for details.
