Sleepwalkers: Possibilities – >Contingencies

Following on from its site-specific series The Golden Fleece, the Hugh Lane begins a new strand of contemporary enquiry. Sleepwalkers: Possibilities – >Contingencieswill, we are told, explore the whole idea of "exhibition making" and "project in progress".

At the heart of the first instalment is a film (pictured) in the midst of an installation by Walker and Walker. The film, Mount Analogue Revisited, stems from an unfinished book by the French cult writer and poet Rene Daumal, who died in his mid-30s in 1944.

Mount Analogueis a mountain linking heaven and earth, which may or may not exist. The Walkers' film imagines a conversation between members of an expedition searching for it, an official on the island where it's presumed to be, and Daumal himself.

Accompanying works explore some of the issues raised in the text.
