THE value to Waterford Crystal of having its product used so often as a sports prize is "staggering", according to company chief executive, Mr Redmond O'Donoghue.

Mr O'Donoghue, addressing the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) annual conference, in Waterford, said the repeated visual association on TV of the winner holding the Waterford prize aloft was the best brand and product publicity imaginable.

"Perhaps even more importantly, it publicises, in a very powerful way, the association between Waterford and excellence."

The theme for the conference is "Marketing the Chartered Accountant" and Mr O'Donoghue gave an address on measuring the effectiveness of marketing programmes.
