Business advisory firm Deloitte Ireland has acquired Irish-owned Curach Consulting for an undisclosed sum.

Dublin-based Curach, which provides business advisory, delivery and diagnostic services to blue chip clients, has an annual turnover of about €7 million. Its clients include An Post, VHI, Bank of Ireland and Google.

Curach's 70-strong workforce will join Deloitte Ireland's consulting and advisory practice, whcih currently employs 300 people. As part of the deal, Curach's managing director David Dalton will join Deloitte as a partner, while the company's head of IT consulting Bruce Curtis will join Deloitte as director of technology integration services.

Managing partner at Deloitte Pat Cullen said the specialist skills offered by Curach would complement Deloitte's existing skill base.

"This acquisition is a significant investment for the firm and we firmly believe it will position us for further growth in what still remains a challenging marketplace," he said.

"With general market moves towards IT outsourcing, corporate restructurings and M&A activity, we see increasing demand for our expert advisory services."

Curach specialises in customer and channel management, operations and process management, IT strategy and architecture and business intelligence and performance management.

Deloitte has been expanding its technology consulting staff in recent months. Earlier this year, the company announced it would create an additional 200 positions in its Irish business, including more than 30 technology consulting roles. The company cited a number of significant business wins for the move.
