O'Brien property firm to be liquidated

A DENIS O’BRIEN-controlled property company, whose Limerick-based subsidiary is 50 per cent owned by Hugh Murray of Murray O’Laoire Architects, is to be liquidated.

A creditors meeting has been called for Trinity Property Holdings Limited, a company which, according to filings at the Companies Registration Office, is 65 per cent owned by Denis O’Brien’s Partenay Ltd. The other shareholders of the company, which is located in the same office block as other Denis O’Brien companies in 1 Grand Canal Quay, are listed as David Sykes, a close business associate of Mr O’Brien, and Limerick businessman Kieran Walshe.

According to filings at the Companies Registration Office, Trinity Property Holdings Limited owns a company called the Old Windmill Court Partnership, whose directors are Kieran Walshe and Hugh Murray, co-founder and director of Murray O’Laoire Architects.

A third company, Drumdarrig Limited, which is owned by Hugh Murray and is located at the Murray O’Laoire offices in Limerick, is also listed as the owner of the Old Windmill Court Partnership.

The Old Windmill Court Partnership was involved in the development of a residential development, Old William Court, located on lower Gerald Griffin Street in Limerick.

According to property sources in Limerick, the majority of the 133 apartments in the complex have been sold, with approximately 15 still on the market.

The creditors’ meeting for Trinity Property Holdings Limited is scheduled for April 20th.
