EP Mooney, the family-owned Nissan dealership, suffered a pretax loss in 2006 of €1.7 million on a turnover of €108.7 million, according to accounts filed with the Companies Office.

However, owner and chief executive Paraic Mooney said there had been a substantial turnaround in trade this year.

The group has interests in car dealerships, investment properties and a fitness centre. The group's accounts do not disclose how the turnover was divided between the various businesses.

The different elements of the business were consolidated into a group structure in 2005 and investment properties were revalued, creating a valuation gain of €28.9 million. Pretax profits for that year were €24 million.
