There are a growing number of home-grown podcasts covering everything from greyhound racing to politics to music to, well, general blather from a Dublin bedsit.
A good place to get an Irish view on the podcasting phenomenon is Liam Burke's podcasting weblog, podcom.org, which has general news, how-tos, links, and you can listen to Burke's regular podcasts. Be forewarned, though, that Burke is a website creator and you may find yourself hopping between several Burke projects and sites as you go. Podcastdirectory.com will direct you to half a dozen Irish podcasts if you search under Ireland.
These include globalgreyhounds.com, which promises racing news, bedsit radio from Radio WXTC, and TedPod: "a bit of this and a bit of that." You can also search under Ireland at podcast.net to get these and others, including EirPod's "personal observations".
An unusual podcast service comes from the Irish Contemporary Music Centre, which is dipping its toe into the format by offering its monthly composer interviews in podcast form, beginning with young composer Donnacha Dennehy, www.cmc.ie/articles/article1028.html.
Finally, LiveIreland.com ranks as perhaps the most popular Irish podcast, featuring from time to time in iTunes's Top 100 podcasts. It has Irish news and music, and can be found on the iTunes.com free podcasts list.
