KELCOURT PLASTICS, which supplies components to the medical devices industry, is to create 55 jobs over five years at a new medical tubing plant in Tullamore, Co Offaly.

The company, which has its headquarters in San Clemente, California, will make a “significant capital investment” in a building at the IDA Business and Technology Park in Tullamore, IDA Ireland has announced. Kelcourt president Patrick Mickle said the manufacturing facility in Tullamore “creates the perfect gateway into the growing European market”.

Kelcourt Plastics is a division of PPC Industries, which makes packaging for medical, food and industrial markets. The company plans to target the European market. IDA chief executive Barry O’Leary said Kelcourt’s decision to locate its operation in Tullamore would enhance the medical device supplier base in Ireland.
