Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has been fined €25,000 euros for his criticism of coach Louis van Gaal. The Italy international said on Monday his relationship with the Dutch coach was “as good as over” after having “problems” with him for over four months.
Bayern’s general manager Uli Hoeness last night revealed the striker had been fined and that his future at the Allianz Arena is dependent on an apology.
“His comments are not acceptable,” Hoeness said after his side’s 1-0 win over Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League.
“He has been given a total fine of €25,000, but we are still waiting for an apology. Should one arrive, then I think he still has a chance here.”
Roma and Valencia are both reported to be interested in the 32-year-old, who favours a return to Italy this winter to boost his chances of making Marcello Lippi’s World Cup squad.
