Twitter reacts to Ireland’s win over Germany at the Aviva

Ireland's win against Germany on Thursday has set Twitter alight with equally nostalgic, amusing and bizarre musings from pop stars to politicians.

A goal from Shane Long in the second half brought Ireland to a 1-0 victory over the world champions Germany at the Aviva stadium, moving us closer to qualifying for Euro 2016.

Many high profile figures have taken to the social media site to comment on the memorable win, from Justin Bieber referring to Robbie Keane as "my brother Keano" to Niall Horan announcing he intends to name his first child Shane Long.

People also remembered Bill O’Herlihy, many saying he would have enjoyed the spectacle of such a victory and others lamenting the absence of his commentary.
