Vincent Kompany has suffered yet another injury setback after groin muscle fatigue was diagnosed as the reason for Manchester City's captain pulling up towards the end of Wednesday's ERL Cup win at Swansea City.
Kompany is waiting to discover the severity of the problem with further tests to be done over the next 48 hours. There is optimism at the club that the 30-year-old has not hurt a hamstring or calf given the serial muscle injuries that have blighted his City career.
The problem suffered at the Liberty Stadium is the 34th of Kompany’s eight years at the club – 30 of these have occurred since 2012.
Wednesday’s third-round tie was the defender’s first appearance under Pep Guardiola after Kompany was injured during the Champions League semi-final, second leg against Real Madrid in May.
