Swansea City agree fee for Tottenham’s Kyle Naughton

Full-back close to agreeing personal terms ahead of a €6.5 million move to South Wales

Swansea City have agreed a fee of £5m with Tottenham for Kyle Naughton, with the full-back close to agreeing personal terms for his move to south Wales.

Naughton has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at White Hart Lane since joining from Sheffield United in 2009 and has spent time on loan at Norwich and Leicester. The 26-year-old has played just 326 minutes in the Premier League this season and is being allowed to leave as the Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is attempting to clear out his squad.

Aaron Lennon and Roberto Soldado are the next in line to leave, with Everton, Stoke and Hull all interested in the former and the latter interesting Bayer Leverkusen.

Swansea, who sold Wilfried Bony to Manchester City for £25m earlier this month, are in the market for both a right- and left -back in the January transfer window. They have already lined up a £4m move for Norwich left-back Martin Olsson, which in turn could allow Neil Taylor to move to Crystal Palace after the south London club lodged a new bid of around £4.5m for the Wales international.
