Dáilwatch is a politically neutral platform for citizens and their public representatives to engage in direct, respectful communication. By providing a moderated Q&A forum between citizens and members of the Dáil, as well as the ability to access each TD’s voting behaviour, attendance and previous speeches, their mission is to increase transparency within the Irish political system. Dáilwatch works to create a more accessible political elite and a more participatory citizen population. The idea originated from the German-based ParliamentWatch, which attracts about 3 million users a month. Led in Ireland by Change Executive Sarah O’Neill, Dáilwatch.ie was launched in October 2012 and has already engaged 30 per cent of Irish TDs, attracting 45,000 visitors.
