An article published online on Monday evening, headlined ‘Mayo data centre granted planning permission despite objections by locals including author Sally Rooney’, incorrectly reported that Mayo County Council had granted permission for a large data centre on the site of the former Asahi plant in Killalla.
In fact, the permission granted was for a separate, nearby development and not for the data centre. Mayo County Council has not made a decision on the application for permission for the data centre and the final decision on that application is due on April 28th. The error is regretted.
