Longford shopping centre and barracks for sale together or separately

A purpose built shopping centre which was close to completion when the property market crashed in 2008 and a former army barracks on a substantial site in Longford town are to be offered for sale through agents Cushman & Wakefield and Sherry FitzGerald McGill at a guide price of €1.7 million.

The two properties will also be available in separate lots with a price tag of €950,000 on the Longford Town Centre and a guide price of €750,000 on the former Connolly Barrack and adjoining lands.

The shopping centre is being promoted as a “state of the art facility” with 6,781sq m (73,000sq ft) of retail space over two floors. There are also three levels of overhead car parking with 344 spaces and further commercial space in a front block overlooking the river Camlin.

The former army barracks, measuring 20,000sq ft, stands on a site of 5.19 hectares (12.82 acres) and is seen as crucial to the future development of the town. Its town centre zoning will allow it to be used for a range of commercial and residential uses.

Connolly Barracks was acquired by Longford County Council after the barracks was vacated by the Department of Defence. "The two lots offer great synergies and would be ideal for a range of commercial and residential uses," according to the joint selling agents.
