Tiger Woods will have to wait until today to complete his first successful title defence after the final round of the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, was abandoned at 11.15 a.m. yesterday after heavy rain washed the course.
Play will resume this morning at 8.0 a.m. with Woods at 17 under par, six clear of the chasing pack, after shooting a superb seven-under-par 65 in Saturday's third round.
Steve Lowery was Woods' closest pursuer on 11 under after a 66, while Justin Leonard was a shot further back in third after also posting a 66.
Dual US Open winner Ernie Els carded a level-par 72 to be 10 behind while Harrison Frazar fared much worse with a his six-over par 78. A fourth victory of the season now beckons for Woods and after his month lay-off he looks to be hitting peak form again with the US Open at Pebble Beach just over a fortnight away.
