TIGER WOODS shot a 75 to just [make the cut in Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio yesterday.

Scott Hoch shot a second-round 65 at the Muirfield Village course for a 12-under-par total of 132 and a two-shot lead over Tommy Tolles. Tolles's 64, which put him at 10 under, was the lowest round of the tournament.

The cut came at three-over-par 147. Among those who had spent the afternoon teetering between making and missing the cut were the three golfers who have dominated the news this spring - Woods, reformed bad boy John Daly, and Fuzzy Zoeller, whose racially tinged joking about Woods got him in hot water.

Woods shot a three-over-par 75 which included three balls in the water. It was his worst round since shooting a 78 at the 1996 Tour Championship right after his father, Earl, was hospitalised for chest pains.

"My swing is really not there. I'm exhausted, this course really just beat me up," said Woods after his round.

Woods has never missed a cut as a professional, and this is the first time he has come close. The last cut he missed was the 1996 Scottish Open, which he played as an amateur. On the PGA Tour his last miss was the 1996 Masters.
