THE Woodman filly Woodren was unfancied on her reappearance run at the Curragh last month and in the circumstances did well to finish within two lengths of the winner, Tout A Coup. She should have progressed after that outing and is napped to take the Marble City EBF Fillies Maiden at Gowran this afternoon.

Last season she was beaten a head over this course by Night Spell, but her most promising display was in the C L Weld Park Stakes when although she finished lash to Last Second, she was beaten under four length. In Generosity, who contested the Moyglare Stud Stakes, could be a danger but Woodren may be good enough.

John Oxx introduces the Darshaan colt Samakan in the Four Wells Races and as he receives 7lb from the two winners in the field, Escrito and Troysend, he should go well. Preference is, however, for Escrito, who made a winning debut in a Curragh maiden.

Lady Arpel, who ran a fine race when narrowly beaten at Punchestown, should oblige at extremely short odds in the Tollgate Hurdle. The Castleview EBF Beginners Chase will not take much winning and Barnageera Boy looks to have reasonable claims.
