IAN WOAN scored two fabulous free kicks to match a Chris Armstrong double and earn Nottingham Forest an FA Cup fifth round replay at Tottenham a week on Saturday.
Ahead after just three minutes when Woan stunned goalkeeper Ian Walker with a 22 yard blast following Gary Mabbutt's foul on Bryan Roy, Forest were stung by the ferocity of Tottenham's comeback.
It brought Armstrong an eighth minute equaliser with a header following Teddy Sheringham's flick from a Colin Calderwood free kick.
And the £4.5 million striker grabbed his 16th of the season midway through the first half with a cool finish as Spurs put their rivals on the rack.
But Armstrong had to leave the game with an ankle injury in the 69th minute and Forest, second best before the interval, attacked Spurs in the second period and fully deserved their equaliser from another Woan special.
This time he curled a left foot free kick beyond Walker's right hand 18 minutes from time after Ronny Rosenthal had become the fourth Spurs player to be booked for bringing down Steve Stone from behind.
It was all wonderful value for a disappointing crowd of 18,600 after the original meeting between the sides had been called off 10 days ago when a blizzard hit the City Ground after just 15 minutes play.
This time Armstrong could have settled it with a first half hat trick after his double but twice shot wide having being set up by good wing play from Ruel Fox.
But as Forest took charge in the second half, making nonsense of their most recent form, Spurs had to hold tight at the back as Woan twice went within inches of adding to his own tally.
And Kevin Campbell forced the save of the match from Walker with a close range volley.
The replay, however, threatens to cause fixture chaos for Forest who cannot play next week as they have a UEFA Cup quarter final date with Bayern Munich in Germany.
Their trip to White Hart Lane must now wait until sixth round day, with Aston Villa waiting for the winners.
Tottenham now face injury worries over 37 goal strike pair Chris Armstrong and Teddy Sheringham and captain Gary Mabbutt. They are likely to miss Saturday's home Premiership clash with Southampton.
Armstrong damaged an ankle and said: "It is ligaments, an old injury and I just went over on it trying to challenge their centrehalf."
The 16 goal forward, who limped off after 69 minutes added: "There's a good chance I will miss out on Saturday and that's a shame because the goals have been coming along for me. Hopefully it won't be too long after that."
Spurs manager Gerry Francis also revealed Sheringham injured knee ligaments in a collision with team mate Jason Dozzell.
Francis said: "It's not looking very good and we've certainly paid the penalty for our fighting performance.
"We're going to have to patch up a team somehow for the Southampton game and then keep our fingers crossed for the replay the following Saturday.
"Gary Mabbutt is also having problems with his foot. He can hardly walk back there in the dressing room."
