Ulsterman Mark Winters yesterday called for a rematch with Londoner Jason Rowland in a bid to win back the British light-welterweight boxing title.
Winters lost his crown - and the possibility of winning a Lonsdale Belt outright - after suffering a single point defeat against Rowland at Bethnal Green's York Hall on Saturday night.
But Winters knows he wasn't at his best on the night. "Nothing went right for me. It just wasn't the real me in there against Rowland. I only had two weeks notice, which didn't help, and no sparring.
"I want my manager Frank Warren to get me a rematch right away to prove I am the better fighter," he said. "Nine times out of 10 I will beat Rowland, though I give him credit, he took his opportunity. But really I lost the title rather than him winning it.
"I'll never take a title fight with two weeks notice again. I know I can bounce back," he added. "It really hurts to think I missed out on the Lonsdale Belt but also the way in which I lost the fight."
Rowland, who floored Winters twice, is eager for revenge of his own against Tottenham's Bernard Paul, who stopped him in a round in 1995.
