MAURICE CAMACHO looks to have found the ideal opportunity for Marsayas to break his duck in the Yvonne Murray MBE Handicap at Musselburgh today.
The gelding has improved steadily since he beat only two in a big field of maidens on his debut at Beverley last September and he put up his best performance when second over a mile and a half at Carlisle last time.
That was an encouraging effort, he ran on strongly all the way to the line after having to be switched two furlongs from home, and suggested his winning turn was near.
Marsayas should be all the better for the outing, having been off the track for nearly two months beforehand.
Elpida can strike for the second Monday running in the Bilborough Handicap at Nottingham.
The gelding was a 25-1 shot when he claimed a limited stakes race at Brighton seven days ago but there was no fluke about it as he battled to a defeat of Talented Ting, who was officially rated much his superior.
