1987: Joins Luton for £150,000.
1990: Moves to Sheffield Wednesday for £200,000 and makes 137 appearances in all competitions for the Owls.
1993: Costs Barnsley £200,000 in July.
1995: Leads the Tykes to sixth position in the First Division in his first full season as player-manager at Oakwell.
1997: Takes Barnsley into the top flight for the first time in the club's 110-year history.
1998: Barnsley reach quarter-finals of the FA Cup, but are relegated. Wilson replaces Ron Atkinson as Sheffield Wednesday boss and leads Owls to 12th place finish in 1998-99 Premiership season.

October 2nd: Wednesday finally bring an end to the worst league start in their history - almost trebling their goals tally for the season in the process with a 5-1 home win over Wimbledon.
2000: January - A group of four Sheffield MPs call for Wilson's sacking. February: Chairman Dave Richards stands down after nine years in charge at Hillsborough, due to his impending appointment as chairman of the FA Premier League. March 21st: 72 hours after Wednesday lose 1-0 in a crunch relegation clash with bottom side Watford, Wilson is sacked, 21 months into a four-year contract.
