AIRTRICITY LEAGUE Sporting Fingal 1 Dundalk 0:A BRAVE diving header from Shaun Williams earned Sporting Fingal a second win in succession to move them into third place.
Farhudin Kuduzovic fired over within three minutes of the start and a stunning free-kick from Wayne Hatswell from 40 yards brought the best out of Darren Quigley who tipped over on the half-hour mark.
Fingal’s Kenny Browne had to defend desperately on 41 minutes when Tom Miller’s ball put Matthew Tipton in behind to cross before Dundalk’s Tipton missed a sitter in the final minute of the half, firing wide.
Six minutes into the second half brought the game’s only goal. Shaun Kelly was harshly penalised for obstructing Ger O’Brien. If that was unfortunate, Daniel Kearns was guilty of failing to cut out Ollie Cahill’s free-kick which allowed Williams to head home.
Another long-range free-kick came close to putting Dundalk level on 64 minutes when Quigley clumsily parried Ciarán McGuigan’s free-kick before Miller got his marching orders in the 83rd minute for a second booking.
