WICKLOW footballers, who won league promotion last week, added the O'Byrne Cup yesterday when they beat title holders Wexford by 0-12 to 1-7 in the final at Augrim.
Wexford seemed to lose their way in the second half of this game as Wicklow came strongly in the closing quarter to chalk up the vital scores that gave them their first O'Byrne Cup title in a decade. Fergus Daly and Raymond Danne took control of midfield for Wicklow, Keith Byrne did some great running on the ball, and the home side hit a purple patch as Seamus Cullen and Keith Byrne fired over vital unanswered points.
