PLANET SIX NATIONS:TICKETS for the Ireland A game against Scotland A at the RDS tonight (7.30pm) can be purchased online or with cash at the gates.
Also, supporters who purchased tickets at the cancelled Ireland A v England Saxons game have the option of using that ticket for tonight’s match.
“DREAMS really do come true,” says the Boscolo Hotel in Rome, where the Irish rugby team and members of the IRFU Committee will be staying this weekend. It goes on: “This five star luxury hotel is the epitome of continental sophistication and modern luxury.
“Boscolo Luxury Hotels await you because you deserve the best that life can offer.”
The well-appointed building in the heart of the city is nothing less than you might expect for our Grand Slam-winning hopefuls and the IRFU blazers. But for those foot soldiers making their way from Ireland to support the effort, the little cost saver hotels found in many of the side streets might just be the answer.
For three nights from Friday to Monday, in the team hotel and booking online the cost is €1,240.80 for the Boscolo Experience room or €1,372.80 for the Deluxe room. Nice.

Charity ball
THE Captain’s Banquet Ball 2009 will take place this year on February 27th at the D4 hotel (formerly Jurys Hotel) in Ballsbridge, Dublin. All the proceeds of the event will go towards the IRFU Charitable Trust Injured Player’s Fund, a charity set up to aid seriously injured Irish rugby players around the country.
Today there 35 seriously injured players and the IRFU Charitable Trust dedicate themselves to making life easier for these people and for their families. It is a black-tie event and patrons will get the chance to meet past captains of Irish rugby teams.
