LEINSTER SCHOOLS JUNIOR CUP Wesley College 10 Belvedere College 8: WESLEY COLLEGE recorded a historic victory over big guns Belvedere College in an entertaining encounter at Templeville Road yesterday.
Fans had to wait 36 minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Wesley wing-back Jurgen Steinbach gathered off phased ball to score under the posts after a good break by Arran Copeland. Centre Rob Bracken converted.
But Belvedere were right back in it on 47 minutes when Damien Butler scored in the corner. Ivan Soroka missed the conversion but then converted a penalty 28 minutes into the second half. However, Bracken converted a straight forward penalty two minutes later to send his team through.
