Defeat tonight against Real Mallorca would mean elimination for Arsenal, but Arsene Wenger prefers to look on the bright side. He will remind his team instead that they are "one good performance away" from progressing in a tournament he feels they can win.

A two-goal victory will suffice if Schalke fail to win in Athens. Wenger last enjoyed a Champions League triumph of that margin 12 months and 14 games ago against Sparta Prague. Yet with Thierry Henry in fine form and Mallorca struggling, Highbury is hopeful.

Mallorca are in the bottom three of the Spanish First Division despite Sunday's 3-0 win over last-placed Rayo Vallecano and sacked their coach Bernd Krauss after losing 4-0 at home to Schalke eight days ago. Their third-choice goalkeeper Miki plays because of injuries but Henry, with 12 goals in 13 games, is in no mood for charity.

"He wants to be the best," Wenger said of the 24-year-old, who scored twice to beat Panathinaikos last week and got two more against Schalke. "His confidence has grown. His belief in his ability to finish is greater and he looks more mature and less nervous."

Sol Campbell returns to partner either Martin Keown or Matthew Upson in the Arsenal defence. Mallorca's new coach Sergio Kresic is without the suspended striker Samuel Eto'o.

Henry is likely to be partnered by Sylvain Wiltord tonight, with Dennis Bergkamp back on the bench alongside Kanu ready to produce a piece of special magic if it is needed in the end.
