The going at the Co Kildare track ahead of Saturday's card, which may see an appearance over hurdles by the Grand National winner Hedgehunter, is currently heavy and between 25-50mms (1-1.97ins)of rain is being forecast for the rest of the week.

"If we get the substantial amounts of rain the forecasts are suggesting, then you would have to be worried," said the Punchestown manager Richie Galway yesterday.

"A good thing is there are some dry periods expected between the rain. But if we get it all then we would be in trouble."

The Grade Three Juvenile Hurdle is the feature for Saturday but the 2005 National hero Hedgehunter is an eye-catching entry for a two and a half mile hurdle.

Willie Mullins's star disappointed on his return to action in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown at the start of last month when he was pulled up behind The Listener.
