In a superb game of football which was a credit to both teams, Waterford beat Clare by the narrowest of margins to take the Munster title.

Waterford needed all their strength of character to hold out in the closing quarter which was one of the most exciting and hotly contested in recent championships.

While points were exchanged by both sides, Clare never managed to get ahead and a goal by Anna Lisa Crotty strengthened Waterford's grip.

With just a point dividing the sides with three minutes to go, the crowd were on their feet to cheer the teams.
